Two Identities of Paralegal Gifts

When somebody would hear the term “paralegal gifts,” the first thing that would cross his mind is the skills and talents or God-given abilities of paralegals. But this could be not one of the meanings of “paralegal gifts,” otherwise the term that have been used is paralegal skills to avoid confusion.
Indeed, it is hard to really determine what paralegal gifts mean. Paralegal gifts could be best understood in two aspects, paralegal gifts as in “paralegal benefits” and paralegal gifts as “paralegal assistance.”
Paralegal gifts as paralegal benefits in its most obvious sense are the benefits that paralegals get in their profession as paralegals. Actually there are lots of benefits that a paralegal obtains, but most of those benefits are intangibles such as knowledge, experience, and growth in the paralegal profession. In addition, as members of the legal systems and departments, paralegals have the very best opportunities to extend their educational credits to law study and obtain certificates to be lawyers. On the other hand, in terms of compensation a paralegal is paid with reasonable salary. Earnings of paralegals vary greatly. Of course the salary will be based on education, training experience, type and size of employer and the geographic location of the working field. One thing desirable, paralegals don’t have to comply with the regular office hours; the better side of it … they are paid for extra hours.
On the other side of the fence, the paralegal gifts as paralegal assistance are primarily the duties or works that paralegals do. It is called the paralegal assistance because principally, most of the duties that paralegals do are to assist the lawyers. A paralegal may perform any action delegated by a lawyer. That’s why paralegals are sometimes known as the lawyers’ sidekicks. They are often referred as the batman and robin of the legal system. The paralegal assistance usually revolves around the following duties:
* Draft legal documents, correspondence and pleadings.
* Attend execution wills, real estate closings, depositions, court or administrative hearings and trials with the attorney.
* Author and sign correspondence but could not include legal opinion or legal advice.
* Summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimony.
* Conduct client interviews and maintain general contact with the client.
* Locate and interview witnesses.
* Conduct investigations and statistical and documentary research.

To sum up everything, the two identities of paralegal gifts are: paralegal gifts as paralegal benefits and paralegal gifts as paralegal assistance.
